Ruthann Perry
Perry’s work is about transformation. Using salvaged wood she enhances the time-worn beauty of each piece by engaging the viewer with her smart, elegant, and often comical compositions. Foundry molds, table legs, chair parts, architectural elements and curbside debris are collected and then constructed into horses (mostly), both free-standing and wall-mounted. Her skills for scavenging and building were honed by working 15 years making props and designing for national TV and regional theatre. In this business it was: “If you can’t buy it, build it.”
Perry has lead workshops at The Grounds for Sculpture, Princeton Adult School, Habitat for Humanity. Her work has been exhibited regionally and nationally, and held in numerous private collections and Equine Facilities.
